NTIA still finalizing eligible location lists for new BEAD funding round
States have not yet received updated lists of locations eligible for an additional BEAD funding round, with Arkansas broadband office head Glen Howie saying lists may not arrive until November. NTIA is reportedly reviewing June data before finalizing the lists for the so-called true-up round.
What this means for BEAD compliance
All BEAD-participating state broadband offices and ISPs awaiting eligibility for the forthcoming true-up (additional) funding round.
No compliance obligations are activated yet, since this is a pre-application administrative delay in NTIA finalizing eligible location lists. ISPs should not expect subgrant agreements, environmental, procurement, or performance clocks to start until states receive final location lists, which may slip to November or later. Compliance officers should monitor state broadband office announcements for the opening of the true-up application window, as that will trigger pre-award readiness requirements.
Opportunity: Once NTIA finalizes eligible location lists, providers not previously awarded in a state's BEAD allocation may be able to apply for funding to serve newly eligible locations in the true-up round.
