NTIA approves Illinois' BEAD proposal, completing all 56 state and territorial approvals

On August 25, 2026, NTIA announced it had approved its last BEAD Final Proposal, from Illinois, completing approval of all 56 state and territorial BEAD Final Proposals nationwide. Assistant Secretary Arielle Roth traveled to Moneta, Virginia with Congressman Morgan Griffith to mark the milestone by touring fiber and satellite BEAD projects. Illinois' approved plan will spend $831 million of its $1.04 billion allocation to connect more than 85,000 locations, primarily via fiber, fixed wireless, and satellite.
