Washington State signs final BEAD contracts with four of 26 subgrant winners
Washington's broadband office director Jordan Arnold said the state has signed final contracts with four of its 26 BEAD grant winners, with one fixed wireless project close to starting construction. ISPs in the state are seeing cost increases as projects move forward.

The four Washington BEAD subgrantees with executed contracts, and the remaining 22 selected applicants awaiting final agreement execution.
For the four executed contracts, active deployment obligations now begin, including construction permitting, contractor oversight, procurement compliance, Buy America preferences, cybersecurity/SCRM equipment certifications, and financial tracking and cost-share documentation requirements. Cost increases reported by ISPs raise risk of non-federal cost-share shortfalls and budget-related non-compliance under FIN-003-20 and FINANCIAL-002, and may prompt scope changes requiring re-verification of procurement and permitting records. The 22 non-executed awards remain in pre-award status, where SCRM equipment certification and cybersecurity readiness obligations still apply but full deployment clocks have not yet started.
