States may need to cut roughly one-third of BEAD satellite awards after data update

NTIA has asked several state broadband offices to review satellite (LEO) BEAD awards after the FCC's updated Broadband Serviceable Location Fabric showed many previously funded locations are already served or no longer serviceable. An independent analysis by New York Law School's Advanced Communications Law and Policy Institute found the average satellite award reduction across 47 states would be about 33.77%, with Colorado's own broadband office estimating roughly a third of its awarded LEO locations could be affected, while some Broadband Breakfast reporting suggested cuts could reach as high as half in some cases.
