NYLS study: BEAD projects will need at least 86,400 permits nationwide
A report from New York Law School's Advanced Communications Law & Policy Institute finds the median BEAD terrestrial project will require about 11 permits from eight different permitting authorities, with 95% of projects needing at least one federal permit. The researchers suggest states could use leftover 'non-deployment' BEAD funds to boost local permitting capacity, an idea NTIA Administrator Arielle Roth has spoken favorably about, though formal guidance on those funds remains pending.
