Indiana signs BEAD contracts worth $400M with 24 providers for 122,000 homes
Gov. Mike Braun announced Indiana awarded more than $400 million in federal BEAD broadband contracts to 24 internet providers. The deal will bring high-speed broadband service to over 122,000 Hoosier homes and businesses, with construction expected to begin this fall and buildouts finishing by 2030.
Award amount: $400.0M
What this means for BEAD compliance
The 24 broadband providers awarded Indiana BEAD subgrants and the Indiana Broadband Office administering the $400M program across 122,000 locations.
Execution of these subgrant agreements triggers the active_deployment phase, starting the 24-month construction clock and activating NEPA/environmental review completion requirements before ground is broken this fall. Providers must now establish reimbursement-based disbursement processes, cost-per-passing documentation, quarterly address and speed test reporting, Davis-Bacon wage compliance, Buy America sourcing, and cybersecurity/SCRM certifications tied to the awarded funds. Failure to meet environmental clearance or workforce/procurement documentation before construction start risks clawback or default proceedings under the financial oversight requirements.
