Indiana signs BEAD contracts to deploy $400 million in statewide broadband
The Indiana Broadband Office signed BEAD contracts deploying $400 million in statewide broadband infrastructure, part of the state's total $868,109,929.79 BEAD allocation. Indiana's ISP partners exceeded the required 25% match, providing more than $300 million in matching funds, and some construction is expected to begin this fall.
Award amount: $400.0M
What this means for BEAD compliance
Indiana's awarded BEAD subgrantee ISPs that executed grant agreements for the $400 million deployment round, as well as the Indiana Broadband Office overseeing contract performance.
Execution of these contracts starts the 24-month infrastructure deployment clock and activates the full suite of active_deployment obligations, including fiber prioritization, Davis-Bacon prevailing wage compliance, NEPA and environmental review completion, Buy America sourcing, cybersecurity/SCRM equipment prohibitions, and reimbursement-based financial reporting. Awardees must now establish quarterly address and speed-test reporting cadences, letter of credit maintenance, and contractor procurement/oversight controls before fall construction begins. Because matching funds exceeded the required 25%, financial capability documentation and cost-per-passing tracking obligations will carry proportionally higher audit scrutiny given the larger private capital stake.
