Colorado secures $420.6 million in NTIA-approved BEAD funding
On Dec. 2, 2025, the Colorado Broadband Office announced that NTIA approved the state's Final Proposal under the BEAD program, unlocking $420.6 million in federal funding to bring high-speed internet to more than 96,000 Coloradans in rural and underserved areas. Governor Jared Polis called the investment critical to closing the digital divide and advancing the state's goal of connecting 99% of residents to high-speed internet.
Award amount: $420.6M
What this means for BEAD compliance
ISPs planning to bid for Colorado BEAD subgrants once the state opens its subgrantee selection process following NTIA's Final Proposal approval.
NTIA's approval of Colorado's Final Proposal unlocks the $420.6M allocation and clears the way for the state to move into subgrantee selection and award, meaning prospective applicants should now finalize pre-award compliance packages. ISPs should prepare Professional Engineer certifications, National Broadband Map-based location data, NEPA/environmental documentation, cybersecurity/SCRM certifications (including Huawei/ZTE prohibitions), financial internal controls questionnaires, letters of credit, and default protection certifications ahead of any application window. No specific bid deadline has been announced yet, but readiness gaps identified now will determine competitiveness once Colorado issues its subgrantee RFP.
