All 56 US states and territories receive NTIA approval of BEAD final proposals
NTIA has now approved final proposals from every state and territory participating in BEAD, clearing the way for subgrantee selection and award execution nationwide. Illinois was the last of the 56 proposals to receive sign-off.
What this means for BEAD compliance
All BEAD-participating broadband ISPs nationwide, including those awaiting subgrantee selection and those already provisionally selected in earlier-approved states, are affected by this nationwide final approval milestone.
With all 56 final proposals approved, states can now move to subgrantee selection and execute subgrant award agreements, which is the trigger event that will start pre_award readiness obligations (SCRM certifications, environmental compliance documentation, financial internal controls) for ISPs selected as subgrantees. ISPs should expect increased pace of award notifications and must be prepared to demonstrate compliance with covered equipment prohibitions and NEPA/environmental screening requirements before signing subgrant agreements. Compliance officers in states that approved earlier have likely already begun this process, but national completion means remaining states' ISPs face imminent award timelines and should accelerate internal readiness reviews.
